Fat Sugar Cookies
1 1/4 (2 1/2) c. sugar1 c. (2 c.) butter
3 eggs (6)
3 (6) or more c. flour
8 (16) oz carton of sour cream (or 1/2 c. milk)
1/2 t. (1) salt
1 t. (2) vanilla
2 (4) heaping t. baking powder
1 (2) scant t. soda
Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening like you do for pie dough. Beat eggs, milk and flavoring. Add to flour mixture. Bake at 375 degrees.
Buttercream Frosting
In a mixing bowl combine:
2 lbs. powdered sugar,
1/2 t. salt,
1/2 c. milk,
2 t. vanilla and
2/3 c. soft butter.
Beat with mixer until smooth and creamy. (If too stiff, add a few drops of milk).
This recipe should be enough to frost the cookies made from doubling the cookie recipe printed above.
This recipe turned out great. I made them at home then froze them. We made icing there, with cinnamon icing. The girls did a great job decorating them and were very creative. I made enough that we had leftovers for next week.
