50 year dream come true....

In our Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are given the opportunity to serve and callings are extended by the Bishop of our local area, or Ward.  Today, I received a "call" to serve the girls of our ward as their activity leader.

Now let's be honest.  Sometimes you get callings that you are willing to do, but you know it will be a job.  Sometimes you cry for three months as the Spirit tells you something is coming, and you don't want to do it.  It takes the Holy Ghost working on you for three months for you to say "yes" when the bishop asks.  But this is not one of those callings.  I have wanted to be a Merrie Miss B teacher for 50 years.  Merrie Miss A would be okay, but Merrie Miss B is perfect - because they a  Ire old enough to learn to knit AND crochet.

I don't know why callings come when they do, but the Lord does - so I'll trust in Him.  But needless to say, I am excited to get to know these darling girls and see if I still have the energy to even somewhat keep up with them.  I think the suggestion is to meet twice a month - well, these girls haven't been able to meet at all for almost two years, so we are going to meet every week through the first part of December and then we will look at it again.  We have to make up for lost time for these older girls that have missed out.

Let's just say I'm so excited for this new calling and a chance to work with these girls.  I will start out with 17, which may be a bunch - but we will see how it goes.  Hopefully I can get mother's to come and help me so we can have the two deep leadership they require.  Hopefully, these girls will take mercy on this old body and we can work together to have a wonderful time.

I often know when a calling is coming but this time I had absolutely no idea.  I didn't even have enough notice to hide some of my excitement.
